All About Me
I have been working in the Union School District since 2006, after teaching for two years in the Campbell Union School District. Before that, I worked as a substitute teacher for three years in the San Mateo Foster City School District. After graduating from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Theatre Arts, I earned my teaching credential from there as well.
As a mother of two elementary school children, it was wonderful having my children attend Oster while I was teaching here. Now that my son and daughter are both in college at UC Davis. I am enjoying a different kind of relationship with them. Having raised children, I feel I possess insight about the stresses and strains of all that occurs in a busy home life. When dealing with my students, I treat them with respect, appeal to their higher nature, but do play the authoritarian when I have to.
During the summer of 2011, I worked as an instructor for the Summer Institute for the Gifted, a program based in Stamford, Connecticut, hosted by Union School District at Noddin Elementary. The next summer I was the principal of the program, at Alta Vista, a three-week school session from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Naturally, I gained valuable experiences in teaching gifted children. Additionally, I have worked during the past two summers for our district teaching for the Extended School Year, or ESY, a program designed to support children not reaching grade level standards. For four years, I also instructed a young girl with MD as a Home Hospital tutor. In a nutshell, I feel experienced in teaching in all types of learning modalities.
Rest assured, I thoroughly enjoy teaching my students and plan to engage them with educational games and good humor!
